Butter-Roasted Turnips with Garlic and Sage

2½ pounds turnips, cut into 1-inch chunks

8–10 garlic cloves

2 shallots, finely chopped

¼ cup sage leaves, coarsely chopped

6 tablespoons butter, melted

Salt and pepper to taste


Preheat the oven to 400° F. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss the turnips with the garlic cloves, shallots and sage leaves. Drizzle with the melted butter and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Place in the oven and bake until the turnips are tender and lightly browned, about 30–40 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
